There is nothing better than a sparkling pool in Summer and nothing worse when you peel back the blanket and find something even the local ducks would avoid! We had a chat to our friends Ashley and Summer from Jim's Pool Care and asked for some quick tips to keep your pool in top condition during the hot weather:

· 1. Check your chlorine and pH level every couple of days. Pay particular attention after a period of heavy usage of the pool or after a very hot day and adjust the chlorine output and run-times accordingly.

· 2. Check and clean your skimmer basket and hair and lint pot in your filtration pump.

· 3. Keep the pool topped up to half-way up the skimmer box.

· 4. Remove the pool blanket every so often to let the pool breathe and not over-heat. Keep the pool blanket in good condition with an over-cover when rolled up on the roller. The build up of heat will perish the blanket. Contact us for quotes on blankets, rollers and over-covers.

· 5. Backwash or clean your filtration system regularly.

· 6. Use a quality algaecide to keep algae at bay.

· 7. Operate the filtration system at six to ten hours a day depending on the pool and pump size. More during periods of heavy use and very hot days.

· 8. Keep some liquid chlorine and algaecide on hand to dose the pool if required and prevent any green pools during very hot weather.

· 9. Robotic Pool Cleaners are a great hassle-free solution to keeping the pool clean. We have some great offers on Robotic Cleaners.

· 10. Keep the running costs down with an energy efficient pool pump. Save on average up to $1000/year on your energy bills compared to a single speed pump. Contact us for a free quote.
